It's pretty cool to think we've contributed in some way to something so brilliant - thank you too!! And the artwork/ needlework is awesome - the perfect encapsulation of everything this album has in store for us - get me in the polka pit now!!
I'm going to wait until tomorrow to check out the first track so I can blast it properly in the car as God intended.
Great to see Luang Prabang on there. I first caught that one when you guys did St. Vitus in Brooklyn around Christmas 2023. Loved it.
Also, "The I'm Going to Fight Jim's Girlfriend Polka," is that the song you guys debuted at the New Year's Eve Party? If so, it was awesome! Jungle Jim gave me the backstory to it when I ran into him before your set.
Finally, a little surprised Leave Her Johnny didn't make it on there. I've heard it at a couple of shows now and thought for sure it was gonna make an appearance.
Awesome! And yeah, we do Leave Her Johnny but the thing is that since 2021 all of the big sea shanties have been aggressively covered by 6,000,005 bands. And I hate to say this, but often it's because they are traditional and the band can make full royalties rather than having to pay a songwriter or write their own songs. So we're just gonna pay Dave van Ronk's estate for a tune that the other bands are too scared to cover because of all the swearing, and include two more original shanty/nautical songs (Sierra and Mary Robinson). You'll like those, I promise!
Also, I don't doubt I'm gonna love the originals. Into the North might be my favorite vinyl. Brisbane Harbor kicks ass too. Every fellow Shanty enthusiast I've shared Roll Northumbria with has had their minds blown and loved it.
Oh my God, Polka Pit goes so fucking hard. Nobody does the mix of punk, klezmer and polka like you guys, it's really become its own signature sound. I bought the album already on BandCamp, but when I give the song a like on Spotify and YouTube Music, the algorithm doesn't know what to do with it and it's hilarious. Does this guy like shanties? No, he likes punk music. No wait, he likes polka. How about: ALL OF THE ABOVE??!!
Love the little tribute to In Heaven that kicks in at 2:50.
I do like what you do with the notes and the words, good sir, and the order in which they come and how they are presented. I think perhaps this 'Dreadnoughts' band may have something in it. The hand-stitched cover art is the biggest possible middle finger to the Dawning New Age of AI so gets full marks from me.
Also, is 'Newguyski' not the most perfect pseudonym? (I'm sure no one has ever mentioned this to him before.)
I see that there are two Bandcamp Fridays before the release date. Would you prefer we wait until one of them to preorder? Or should we preorder when you get it back up?

Woohooo! Thanks so much. <3
See you in 3 weeks!! Bristol UK - been counting the days!!

Oh and Joli Rouge. Also amazing. Okay last reply for real this time

Already preordered the album. I take it the title "Painting With Sound" was a joke then?
As with most things we say, yes... :D
I love the new track, I’ve had it on repeat all day.

What happened with Bandcamp? It was on there earlier this afternoon for preorder, but now it's gone.
Working on it. BC's website screwed up royally on the first go around. Apologies for the delay...
