Previously, when we’ve gone into the studio, I’ve been an idiot and not preserved the recorded tracks for future use. This was dumb. But THIS time, after the release of Roll and Go, I made sure to collect it all, every vocal and fiddle and drum part we did in the studio, and stuff it in a big ol’ Dropbox folder for posterity. You know, something for future music PhDs to write whole dissertations on. lol.
So I am in possession of all the stems (recorded tracks) for our last album, and the other day I wondered what one of the songs would sound like stripped down with no drums or bass or big effects.
The result is “Roll and Go (Acoustic)”, which I'm offering as an MP3 download to our paid subscribers. The voices and acoustic instruments really jump out. I think it sounds pretty sweet. In the future I'm going to look at remixing songs from previous albums, maybe adding new instruments and trying new arrangements. Wanna hear? Become a paid subscriber, eh!
Also, I’d love some comments on this one: is there anything else I should remix from Roll and Go? “Brisbane Harbour” with a trap beat? “Problem” with just the seventeen accordions? Let your voices be heard!
